Featuring a 9.4-inch display and a contoured design, Sony’s S1 is designed to feel much like a magazine in your arm while you’re toting it on the go. When the tablet is placed on a flat surface, its ergonomic design creates a comfortable angle for table-top typing.
But that’s not all. Sony is also releasing a miniature tablet, the S2, which unfolds to reveal two 5.5-inch touch displays to display your EBooks as though they’re really an open book! Both models feature Android Honeycomb technology, promising the power to out navigate and out-app the markets competitors. These handhelds will have access to Sony’s Playstation gaming and each will have built-in infrared and DLNA technology which will allow the S1 and S2 to function as a universal remote with Sony’s Bravia television sets. Even more exciting, these tablets allow users to stream media such as music, videos and pictures from their gizmos onto the big screen.
If you’re worried about purchasing a first generation tablet from Sony, fear not. Sony has one of the most rigorous quality assurance programs for their electronics and most products have much higher “out of the box” success rates than the competitors.Check out videos of the S1 and S2 in action here: Sony.com S1 and S2 Tablets
I wouldn't be so fast with buying one of these, even though I am an avid supporter of Android as a mobile OS. I tried out a high-end tablet Honeycomb, and it lagged way too much to be usable. The lack of GPU acceleration of the UI in Android is really noticable, especially when compared to the smoothness of an iPad.
ReplyDeleteI don't know Underyx!
ReplyDeleteSony has a high reputation for packing a powerful punch when it comes to electronics! Look at the PS3 compared to other gaming systems. Another example is the Sony Vaio compared with PC counterparts. And lets not forget the amazing picture quality of their HDTV sets.
Still, until it launches, I'll remain excited, yet skeptical.
THIS IS SO USABLE , I LIKE SONY TABLET.
ReplyDeleteWell, DarthSlymer, I didn't say their hardware was bad (actually, according to this study: http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_laptop_reliability_1109.pdf they have one of the most reliable laptops).
ReplyDeleteWhat I meant was that no matter how powerful the device is, with the current state of the Android OS, it's basically impossible to make a decent tablet PC.
What is also important that Sony is exceptionally disrespectful to its customers and has incompetent management, see for example the rootkit scandal several years, and the multiple PSN hacks this year.
I have tried going for Blackberry pad, but somehow i liked iPad, however i prefer to have USB port in ipad.. with hearing update of Sony's Tablet launch I would rather wait for some more time to compare available option and then go for it. Sony has been my preferred brand for laptop - lets see if they have some surprise in tablet too..
ReplyDeleteUnderyx,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you have had such problems with Sony in the past. I have become quite loyal to their brand as I have had several positive experiences with both their products and customer support.
I was also very pleased with the Playstation, "Welcome Back" package after the long network outtage.

ReplyDeleteThe sea shore is look like heaven on the earth. Really the place is look like a Heaven
ReplyDeleteI will suggest you do your research first and then blog something like this. Apple is still the best.
ReplyDeleteAditya, you obviously have a first generation Ipad. I guess I'd be upset as well if I were still toting the dinosaur of the latest tablet boom!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments!

ReplyDeleteInteresting. When are they launching it in the market.
ReplyDeleteI think we'll just have to wait and see. Personally I'm a bit skeptical since there hasn't really been a tablet out that is giving apple a problem.
